Al Otaiba Museum

Abu Dhabi, UAE
2018

Dr. Mana Saeed Al Otaiba is the former Minister of Petroleum in UAE and a personal advisor to the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Al Otaiba is an Arab diplomat, a businessman and a poet. He was born in the traditional Beit al Shaer (House of Poetry), a place known for gatherings, storytelling, poetry recitation and social events. The Al Otaiba Museum celebrates the achievements and legacy of Dr. Otaiba, serves as a place to relive history, share values and be inspired. The flexible space is made with the purpose of facilitating gatherings, interactions, sharing knowledge and contemplation. The openness of the common ground, the curvilinear form, the repetitive elements and the use of tensile structure and fabric found in the structure resembles the essence of the Beit al Shaer in which Al Otaiba was born.
