Rooted in the rich Arabic tradition and connected to a global business world, MISK City is a bustling marketplace for emerging innovators, pioneers and makers. MISK City provides vibrant and flexible environments for talents and tenants to fulfil their potential through the robust unifying principals. Located in Misk City next to Wadi Hanifah, Misk Active Hub is proposed as a multifunctional and parking space, having direct views into the escarpments and contact with nature. The main inspiration stems from the heritage, terrain, public realm and terrain of the site with a strong connection to Wadi Hanifah.

Misk Active Hub reimagines the traditional parking structure by integrating it into the city’s public space, transforming it into a lively urban experience. Rather than being typical, Misk Active Hub is designed to interact with the community through various activities, including a bicycle track, art sculpture exhibitions, resting lounge pods, yoga pods, and public drinking fountains.

We first analyzed the site conditions, considering the sunken wadi, and created a contrasting raised structure with views towards the wadi, seamlessly integrating with the public realm. We then developed a loop, adjusting the heights to maximize views of the wadi. The terrain below was carved out to create an amphitheater and open plaza, further integrating it with the public realm and activating it with multiple functions throughout the year. This activation occurs on multiple levels of the structure, incorporating various activities for holistic social integration.

Inspired by the rocky landscape, we created a double skin facade made from broken chunks of large stones that loops around the structure, blending natural beauty with urban functionality. The double skin creates a space in between to form as an active programmatic function which encourages pedestrian health and wellbeing. This innovative design makes Misk Active Hub more than just a place to park—it’s a dynamic, interactive part of the city’s fabric.
