DQ Celebration Hall
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia / 2011
The Inspired by “real” Islamic architecture philosophy, the project sensibly and sustainably organizes itself as if it has been grown from the site. The main functions camouflage with the site, using the same material and color of the natural limestone topography. It allows the flow of people to penetrate and interact with the natural characteristics of the interior space. Through nature, culture and identity will be achieved.
Enclosed with ornamental structure on the roof, the projects remind us of the simple beauty of the desert architecture and the Bedouin tent. During the day, a wonderful shower of light will penetrate the interior space reminding us how pleasant it is to be under a tree in the middle of the desert. However, at the night time, the project transforms completely, especially with a mysterious lighting effect radiating through the ornamental fabric skin into the Arabian nights. Special functions like the King Suite and Praying Hall float on a peaceful water body.
