Jumeirah First Housing
Dubai, UAE / 2012
In response to the ongoing demand for a vibrant city lifestyle pursued by Emiratis, we proposed a new typology of apartments which take into consideration this specific lifestyle. The concept stems from the repetition of a series of horizontals bars, marked by a cadence of solid and void spaces. As a result, the complex created is a series of apartments and private courtyard, with full height northern windows.
We designed an active promenade, sinking the ground level by 1.5 m to enhance the filtration of noise and to attract pedestrians to a private and introverted public space. This pedestrian flow will be enhanced by the gradual slope into the sunk-in retail space.
