MEWA HQ

Riyadh, KSA / 2022

The design of the MEWA Headquarters takes inspiration from the diverse ecological and agricultural environments in Saudi Arabia, incorporating elements that educate and showcase these aspects to the public. The form of the building is composed of three twisted squares, merging at the top to create a connecting bridge of public spaces and museums. This unique design not only serves as a visually striking architectural feature but also acts as a platform for disseminating knowledge about the Kingdom's rich ecological heritage.

MEWA Headquarters is designed to include open offices, a stepped podium (inspired by the topography of the landscape), an active roof, and a smart skin that drapes along the building, to help circulate northern wind and filter the air quality within the open areas of the project. The skin of the building is meticulously designed to exhibit both beauty and functionality. Acting like a veil, it serves as a protective barrier, shielding the project from environmental elements such as wind and sun. Moreover, the intelligent skin utilizes innovative technologies to generate water from humidity or air, contributing to sustainable practices. Beyond its protective function, the skin becomes an interactive screen that engages with the city of Riyadh. It acts as a canvas for displaying dynamic visuals, information, and artistic expressions, creating an ever-evolving dialogue between the building and its urban surroundings.

Aligned with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, the MEWA Headquarters aspires to set a world standard for an office system that reflects the cultural values of the nation on an international scale. The design fosters a sense of interconnectivity and engagement, not only within the institution but also with the employees, the people, and the larger society. By redefining working spaces to be more interconnected, the design promotes efficiency and functionality, enabling collaboration and productivity while fostering a strong sense of community and shared purpose. The MEWA Headquarters stands as a testament to the nation's commitment to progress, innovation, and cultural heritage, embodying the aspirations of a dynamic and ambitious Saudi Arabia.
