The White Hotel
Abu Dhabi, UAE / 2008
The White hotel is inspired by the traditional Muqarnas in Islamic architecture that are generated by rhythmic arrangement of simple geometries to create an intricate and rich formal identity. The resultant massing is not only iconic but also environment friendly, providing built-in ways to mitigate issues like shading and ventilation. The rugged form of the White Hotel is juxtaposed against the flowing curves of the Zayed Bridge providing a strong iconic urban setting. The form of the hotel also allows every room with wide views towards major urban icons in the vicinity.
